FNF Showdown: Packers vs. Eagles
I dive into the showdown slate on DraftKings for Packers vs. Eagles.
The old FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, and we’re not even talking about high schoolers! I pretty much hate that two NFL franchises are being forced to open their season in a different country, but that’s probably not something I need to be worked up about or go into.
So we have the Packers and Eagles playing in Brazil. The lineup last night min-cashed, as was the plan, so let’s do it again tonight.
Game Environment
Over/Under: 49.5
Moneyline: Eagles -130, Packers +110
Spread: Eagles -2
High O/U and a tight spread. These are clearly two of the best teams in the league, so this should be a good one. I hope my wife can handle two nights in a row of football.
2023 Packers O: 61.5% Pass%, -1.8 Pass% OE
2023 Eagles D: 67.1% Pass%, -0.6% Pass% OE
2023 Eagles O: 59.7% Pass%, -2.7 Pass% OE
2023 Packers D: 59.3% Pass%, -4.8% Pass% OE
The Packers did throw the ball more as the year went on. Love attempted 33.5 passes per game in the first half and 34.9 in the second half.
The Packers’ defense was mediocre against both the run and the pass, but they weren’t awful on either side. The Eagles were also right around the league average in both. In terms of giving up fantasy points, the Eagles were actually pretty generous. They gave up 653 pass attempts to lead the league and 0.28 DraftKings points per snap, which was third-worst in the league.
I don’t know how each defense will grade out this year (nobody does, but I know even less), but I think it’s safe to say that both offenses have plenty of scoring upside.
