MLB Daily Notes - April 13th
A daily automated report of what happened yesterday in Major League Baseball, along with other recent trends and further analysis.
A road Rockies stack against Kevin Gausman was the DFS play last night… wild world.
Everything ran so smoothly this morning. The data was there, the scripts ran without fail, and the projections even handled the double header cleanly. That’s really nice for me because we’re heading out for the day taking the kids to some zoo somewhere. So I won’t be around, but everything should run all day without fail.
What we learned yesterday was that we should really try to start as many pitchers as possible against the White Sox and Athletics.
They aren’t the two worst lineups in the league by the numbers, but I’m sure they’ll get there. The White Sox lineup is just so, so bad without Luis Robert in it (and even with him). Andrew Abbott ran through 7 innings against them giving up four hits and one run, and he did it without even looking good by the numbers (7.8% SwStr%, 44.7% Strike%, 35% Ball%). There’s just nobody in that lineup that is going to make you pay.
Jake Irvin exploited the Athletics with a strong 6 IP, 1 H, 5 K, 2 BB line. He hasn’t been very good this year, but he took advantage of that matchup and got it done.
You can use the “Probable Pitchers - Next 10 Days” resource to find these streamers:
And I also have a daily automated tweet that finds the next handful of probables against my favorite teams to pick on. What a great guy I am.
Kevin Gausman had a really weird outcome. The velocity mostly came back and he posted an elite 23.1% SwStr%, but that’s the end of the good news. He gave up 10 hits and six runs against the Rockies. I’d continue to start him, but you have to be pretty concerned at this point.
Check out this resource for the rest of the SP data from yesterday, I don’t have time to cover it.
On to the automation!
