MLB Daily Notes: Friday, June 24
Introduction / Explanations for New Readers
The swingset is definitely getting delivered today, and I’m pretty terrified to see how many different pieces it comes in.
We’ll see what we can do!
The hitter of the day was Dansby Swanson, who is doing this dumb thing again where he mashes for like a month after being super mediocre. Yesterday he had two homers on two barrels, but also whiffed four times lol what a loser!
Here’s what he’s done by month this year:
April: .216/.293/.351, 1 HR, 11.4% Brl%, 36.5% K%
May: .304/.357/.490, 5 HR, 12.0% Brl%, 25.0% K%
June: .372/.443/.640, 6 HR, 14.9% Brl%, 19.6% K%
Here’s what he did by month last year:
April: .189/.267/.316, 29.5% K%
May: .290/.317/.559, 28.4% K%
June: .216/.286/.422, 26.8% K%
July: .290/.345/.579, 23.3% K%
August: .320/.378/.520, 12.6% K%
September: .176/.271/.275, 33.6% K%
So I don’t know what to say, Swanson is capable of being one of the best hitters in the league, but he has always shortly receded into being quite bad for long stretches. I would be looking to trade him right now - FO SHO!

Quintana is just such a weird pitcher. He’s capable of really good starts, and he had a crazy high strikeout rate last year (mostly from the bullpen, I believe), but all-in-all he’s not really a fantasy-worthy guy, I don’t think.
For the year:
26.8% CSW%
12.6% SwStr%
20.7% K%
7.5 BB%
9.0% Brl%
45.5% GB%
You can just forget about him in anything other than super deep leagues, but hey shoutout to my hometown Buccos! They have won four of their last five games! And they have a 7-4 record in June if you take away that pesky nine-game losing streak they went through.
The strikeout line on Alex Cobb tonight is just disrespectful at 4.5. In games where he’s exceeded 80 pitches, he has struck out 10, 6, 4, 7, and 8 hitters.
He tops the strikeout prop sheet, as my projections have him for 5.8 strikeouts tonight - easily clearing the 4.5. I feel, INCREDIBLY CONFIDENT in this one.

We’ll get back on the DFS horse today with an analysis article coming out for paid subs at some point today! We need a big night to get back in the green!
