MLB Daily Notes: Monday, September 26
Playoff Update
It’s over. I lost by a Steven Kwan. My offense completely stunk, and Kwan had the best week of his career (by far) with 10 RBI and 4 SB, making the difference in both of those categories. Can’t really complain about losing when I hit .201 and rack up just 31 RBI over seven days with tons of volume. Congrats to Stupid Ass Clint, he will play Pish in the finals. My debts are paid, and I will be back next year with Shohei Ohtani, Trea Turner and the 7th pick in the draft.
It was crazy, just moments after that Steven Kwan grand slam I suddenly got much more excited about fantasy football, what a coincidence of timing!
Luis Ortiz pitched great for the Pirates again. He had a stupid 27.8% SwStr%. He had 15 whiffs on 80 pitches and struck out seven while walking two. He threw 44 four-seamers, 30 sliders, and six changeups. The fastball averaged 98, and the slider got a whiff one-third of the time. He’s looking very good.
With just ten days left in the season, there’s not a ton of sense looking into certain players anymore, we will save all of that for the long slog of offseason content, but I felt like he needed highlighted.
Something that might be helpful to you one last time is the Starts & Sits chart for week 25. Here it is:

I’m really excited to start the team reviews and all of that business in October. We will start pretty quickly after the regular season ends and work for a few months going team-by-team. My dream scenario is to have an extensive article about each team, and then do a summary in podcast form. The articles will be for paid members, and the podcasts would be for everybody. That might be asking a bit too much of myself, considering that I’m having a third baby in December… but I think I’ll be able to pull it off.
I do have a request from you though. If you have any suggestions for what you would want to see in these team-by-team reviews & previews, please send them my way. I would like them all to fit a certain mold, and I want to design and nail down that structure before I start. That makes it easier for me to automate as much as makes sense, and I think it just works best for the readers as well. So please reply to this email, reach out to me on Twitter, or comment below with any thoughts or suggestions you might have!
I will have a couple of massive Google Sheets where I insert players into for ranking/tracking purposes. I’m thinking of having flags for like “upside player”, “safe player”, “risky”, “safe” etc. etc. But any ideas like that - send them my way! Thank you!
Alrighty here’s the report from yesterday. We have all of four games on tap today so I think tomorrow’s notes will be really short, that could help me catch up on some work stuff, and then we’ll get back into the full thing on Wednesday.
