MLB Daily Notes - Saturday, April 16
Good Friday not only saw the death of Jesus, but now the potential death of another Byron Buxton season. Let’s hope the latter can be resurrected just as quickly as the former! Religion jokes!
If you didn’t see it, it happened on a misplayed pop-up. Like if the Red Sox would have just had their stuff together and had someone there to catch the pop-up, this wouldn’t have happened.
But now we’re into the realm of Chaos Theory. Every single injury ever to occur could have been avoided if things immediately before the event went differently. It’s foolishness to talk in the manner of that last paragraph. But it’s another point for the “injury-prone” crowd, I suppose. Something about certain people’s physical builds just make them more likely to be injured.
I actually have a Buxtonian friend named Nate Huffman. We played tennis together in college. Every physical ailment or problem short of ending up in an iron lung happened to this kid before he turned 21. It was wild. One day he came into class completely unable to move his arm. Like he couldn’t rotate his shoulder, and it wasn’t even caused by like an individual event - just all of the sudden dude was completely immobilized. Another time he walked into the cafeteria with an elbow the size of a volleyball. I mean this dude’s body sucks real bad.
As for me, the worst thing that’s ever happened to me was a sprained ankle in 9th grade basketball, and I only missed one game because of it (I averaged 2.2 points per game, ladies!). And I’ve run thousands of miles in my adulthood, so I’d say I’ve run incredibly hot in terms of health.
Here are the notes!

This list will start to thin out after we have 3-5 starts for everybody. It’s typically not a very long list, and it’s probably the most valuable thing these daily notes offer. Any pitcher with 50+ TBF that is on this list should be rostered, and I’m willing to stake my entire reputation and net worth on it.

Nothing prettier in the game than a Shohei Ohtani massive yabbo. Okay, well maybe a Trea Turner slide.

Updates
I’ve added a “team offense” tab to the MLB dashboard, so now you can see team offensive stats. This should be useful in picking streaming pitchers or playing DFS. You can even choose the pitcher handedness or home ballpark. Here’s a peek:
You can also pick a team, and then uncheck a batter’s name to see how the team has done minus that player’s production. This could be useful if a key hitter is out of the lineup on a certain day, here’s an example as if Giancarlo Stanton is out for the Yanks:
I know it’s not cool to talk well about yourself, but man this dashboard is really, really freaking cool and useful. The URL is hidden below the paywall, so become a paid subscriber for access ($5/month).
