MLB Daily Notes: Wednesday, May 4
Last night I got into the Buffalo Trace cause it had been a few days since I had indulged myself, and hey the new season of Holey Moley was on. Producer Lee actually got me into the Trace, because apparently, it’s really tough to find in Pennsylvania but not here, so he buys it every time he comes out to visit. It’s only like $24 in Indiana too so I’ve been buying it now, not much of a bourbon connoisseur but it’s good!
Everything was going wrong for my DFS lineups, I pretty much faded the Nationals last night because the data points to Marquez actually being somewhat decent in Coors, so I went to the vaunted THIRD drink - which for me is the tipping point as far as how I feel the next morning goes. So as I poured it I vowed to get up this morning at 5:30 and run it off, which I did.
So right now I feel amazing. Running a few miles before the sun rises is a really rewarding experience and I need to force myself to do it more often. I still couldn’t get back in time for my son to wake up though, he was in bed with my wife by 5:45 apparently - freaking guy can’t sleep in. That’s been one of the most frustrating parts of having kids for me, not having the morning anymore. Unless you’re getting up at an absurd hour, you pretty much have to go directly into doing stuff for the kids.
So say a prayer that my kids will sleep in later, especially if you’re a paid subscriber - because then your prayers are more powerful - it’s science.
New episode of the pod is up!
Something I pointed out on Twitter last night I think is good to re-iterate, we may have to completely re-calibrate our idea of what a good batting average and OBP is this year.
That OBP ticked up to .306 after last night, WATCH OUT.
I’m going to do a full analysis on this on RotoBaller soon, I’ll share that when it’s published - but right now it would be foolish to look at a .230 hitter and think they’re hurting your fantasy team’s batting average - they really aren’t. That league average will likely come up towards .240 as we go, but keep it all in mind.
Okay here we go to the notes!
