NFL Daily Notes - Introduction
Hello friends! It is August now and everybody is getting into football mode, so I wanted to go ahead and make my case for why you should subscribe to (or continuing subscribing to) my NFL Substack/Tableau product for this season.
There is no shortage of fantasy football content out there, of course, the supply & demand ratio is such that it makes it really tough to charge anybody for anything, but I think I can bring something unique.
I will be doing very little to nothing for free here, everything will be behind the Paywall on this blog.
On the afternoon of the first NFL game, I will be selecting one winner from the list of paid subscribers to buy and ship them a Bidet attachment for their toilet. The reason for that is 95% because I think it’ll be really funny, and 5% because who knows maybe it will result in a couple more people signing up. I have one of these myself and can honestly say it’s really enhanced that part of my life, the pooping part of my life. So sign up before September 8th to get in on that.
So what will you get?
#1 Tableau Dashboard
The main thing is the Tableau dashboard. The URL will be constantly changing and it will be hidden behind the Paywall, so you’ll need to be a member to have access to it.
It will be an amazingly useful tool for all your fantasy football needs. The beginnings of it are here with 2021 data:
I recommend you open that on a Tablet or a PC and click around. I will be making plenty of short tutorial videos as we lead up to the season and in-season as well, probably weekly stuff to get everybody using it optimally.
The 2022 dashboard will be much better than what you see there in 2021, I will integrate routes run, snaps, snap shares, target shares - all that stuff, right in with the other dashboards. We’ll also store DraftKings salaries and whatnot. I already have plenty of things with that current dashboard that I want to enhance and I know how to do it - but I just figured my time is better spent on other things right now and then we’ll really get that thing together once we have a week or two of NFL data.
#2 Google Sheets
So all of this stuff will be found on the Tableau, but if you just want the clean Excel reports every week, here’s just a look at what I’ve cooked up already:
Any stat you can think of will be calculated and stored in an Excel file like that. I will happy to fulfill specific requests from paid subscribers.
#3 Projections
I’ll have weekly projections here as well which will be stored on an Excel file and a Tableau dashboard, much like my MLB product.
Projections don’t quite work as well with football as with baseball, but it will be a good thing to have handy especially if you’re playing DFS.
#4 Showdown Optimized Lineups
The one thing I’ve had a lot of success with is just projecting out player scores, getting the optimal showdown lineup, and then jamming that into a bunch of cash games. I was profitable on it the last couple of years, so it will be fun to perfect that and share it with some people.
#5 Weekly Write-Ups
This is more of a probably thing. I’m not a football writer, so you’ll probably be better off reading someone else’s stuff - but as long we’re here I can at least write some stuff going over what the projections are saying for the week ahead and whatnot.
Depending on how many subscribers we get early on, I may even have another guy writing weekly posts for the site too.
I’m sure plenty more ideas will come to me this fall. I’m even going to attempt to make a college football and college basketball dashboard, and those will be available for all paid subscribers as well. So you should just join on because these daily notes just keep getting better.
If you’re just an MLB guy, there’s still reason to sub because I’m going to be doing my offseason writing as well here, going team-by-team with reviews and previews - and eventually, the MLB dashboard is going behind the Paywall as well, and likely the notes won’t be free next year either. So join on, it’s just $7/month.
