If you’re in a pretty shallow league where there is a lot of weekly SP streaming, you can go ahead of the pack by drafting your week one streamers rather than waiting for the first period of waivers.

This won’t be relevant to all league types, and you might be better off just drafting the high upside guys instead of going after less interesting pitchers just because they have a juicy first matchup or two.

But if you know you’ll be streaming this year, you might as well start right out of the gate. I’ve gone through the schedule and found pitchers outside of the top 300 ADP who should be seeing very advantageous matchups during the first week of the fantasy season.

It’s our first piece of in-season content, you could say! Exciting times!

Offenses to Target

There’s a clear trio of bottom-two offenses in the league this year. Those are the White Sox and the Marlins. The Rockies are right in that conversation when they are on the road.

If we look at starting lineup projected OPS, here are the bottom ten:

  1. Marlins .674

  2. White Sox .681

  3. Guardians .686

  4. Nationals .686

  5. Tigers .698

  6. Mariners .700

  7. Brewers .705

  8. Pirates .710

  9. Rockies .713

  10. Giants .715

OPS might not be the best metric to use for that since a lot of leagues depend on pitcher strikeouts. The Guardians haven’t been much of a home run hitting team over the last few years, but their super low team strikeout rate keeps pitcher fantasy scores down. Early on, it’s pretty clear to target these three offenses mentioned at the top (Marlins, White Sox, and Road Rockies). Let’s take a look at those three.

Marlins

The Marlins open the season with a four-game home series against the Pirates. Mitch Keller (ADP 290) is a guy who goes near the back of a standard draft, so he’s someone you can go after. He will start either the second or third game of the season, and he’s someone who is able to get deep into games right away.

Lots more to come, but I’m going to be plopping down the paywall early and often this year! Become a paid sub today to get the rest of this post and everything else I offer.
