Drew Thorpe, or not Drew Thorpe - that is the question. I say we go for it. We know the raw stuff isn’t going to get him there, so it’s a question about if he can execute the command and have all of his pitches in this first start against Major League pitching. It’s risky, but it is a really nice spot against Seattle.
I still haven’t really known what to do with Ronel Blanco and hit 12% K-BB% but .585 OPS. He hasn’t gotten hit hard, but I would still think it’s coming given the walks and the lack of strikeouts. He’s been in the “leaning” section every time so far, with the start or sit being dependent on matchup. In a 15-team league or something like that, you’re starting him, but I don’t feel great about it in a more standard league.

We have Cade Povich getting another turn here. His first start shouldn’t have gone as bad as it did, but it wasn’t very impressive either. If you added him and still have him, you should start him, but expectations are pretty low.
Braxton Garrett and Michael King were kind of tough for me here. King has been solid lately but the 12.1% SwStr% and 16% K-BB% keep him well out of “must start” territory, but this is a clear start against the A’s. As for Garrett, the strikeouts just aren’t there at 20%, but the walk rate makes up for some of it at 3%. He also has a 57% GB%, so I’d start him in decent/good matchups.
It will also be interesting over the next few weeks to see where Walker Buehler’s strikeout rate settles. He’s at just 22% right now with an 8.1% SwStr%. He can survive with that strikeout rate, but that SwStr% is awful and it would predict that his K% will end up below 20%. I think he’ll get more whiffs soon, but he’s clearly not the guy he once was.
What do you think Logan Webb's trade value is in a 12-team dynasty league?
